Cycling across South America

After completing the solo rowing journey across the Atlantic, Louis Margot began his cycling adventure from Santa Marta, Colombia, to Lima, Peru. Despite the intense heat and the challenge of returning to cycling, the swiss quickly found his rhythm on the South American roads.

After a few weeks on the road, the team from Isa Bodywear, a sponsor of the adventure, along with some members of the Human Impulse team, visited the adventurer. The small group joined the Vaudois on his bike journey for a few days, riding together to Bogotá, the Colombian capital. It was a welcome moment of connection and camaraderie for Louis, who faces solitude day after day to accomplish his adventure.

An unexpected encounter

Shortly after crossing the border into Ecuador, Louis met the Canadian adventurer Marc Sky, who is cycling from Canada to Argentina (24,000 km) with the goal of climbing the highest peak in each of the 15 countries he passes through. A welcome “teammate” for Louis, who set off from Switzerland on September 3, 2023, grateful for the chance to motivate and support each other along the way.

Arriving in Peru

After Ecuador, Louis entered Peru, a new stage during which he chose to follow the coast to avoid the mountainous routes, known to be more dangerous. However, even along the coast, the wind and sand from the Peruvian desert made life challenging for the cyclist.

Louis Margot arrived in the Peruvian capital on July 31, after covering 4,000 kilometers and over 38,000 meters of elevation gain.
